Cables work under constant tension with the spring system — 5 Star Garage Door Service checks the full assembly, not just the visible fray point.
We built our Garage Door Cable Repair service around Nevada City, CA customers who need a specialist, not a generalist working outside their depth.
We'd rather send one truck that's actually equipped for garage door cable repair than three that aren't, even if it means a slightly longer wait on a rare occasion.
A cable slipped off its drum gets diagnosed for the underlying cause, not just re-seated.
We use cables rated to your door's actual weight and spring tension.
Cables work under spring tension — we release tension safely before replacement.
Cables are common stock on our trucks, so most jobs finish in one visit.
Even a few loose strands mean a cable is close to failing under load — we inspect both cables even when only one shows visible wear.
A cable that's already snapped usually means the door dropped or hangs crooked — we stabilize it before beginning repair.
A cable that's slipped off its drum causes uneven hanging — alignment gets checked against the opposite side for balance.
Extension spring systems should run safety cables to prevent whip-back — older doors often lack them entirely.
The bracket anchoring the cable to the door corrodes over time — this is a less obvious but equally important part of the system.
